Help Big mistake - Reverse polarity

I've just been trying to get the boot lid up on my car so i can charge the battery and ended up putting reverse polarity on it by mistake. I was using the battery on my scoob to do this which wasn't that clearly marked. Lid still won't come up after i changed the leads round, so i've probably caused more damaqe. And worse still the big ends have gone on the scoob. Disaster. What do you reckon people

Managed to get the lid up now. Seemed to be ok after i had left it for a few minutes. Dash board all illuminted and it tried to start with a jump from the Scoob. Just not quite enough charge in it yet. So left it charging for a while. Phew hopefully.

What makes it worse is i'm an electrician by trade !!!! I think there was a loose fuse as well. Remind me not to wire anyones house on here !!! lol

Thanks John ! Just one of those Oh Sh&t moments !

Internal door close switch doesn't seem to be working, but other than that so far so good

Quite often, it blows the regulator pack on the alternator when you connect the battery reverse polarity. You'll soon know when you get it started if it is charging or not. If it has damaged it, the regulator pack can be changed. There is a good DIY here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-996-997-forum/408495-alternator-repair-regulator-replacement.html

Should be a doddle for an electrician of your calibre!! [8|] [8|]
