Just re commissioning my wifes car after a 4 year lay up. The warning light for the brake pads stays on all the time, have checked them all all ok, none are open circuit, wiring to luggage compartment is ok, not sure what else to check please help

You could try making a short between the contacts on the brake pad plug to discern which wheel is causing the problem.
I've got none standard brake pads on my car and I cut the leads and soldered them together to stop the red light.

Don't know anyone who actually has/uses them tbh. Get rid of them I guess rarther than worry. You'll know when your pads need changing..!

David have done that. Got a old sensor so I could use the plug off the end. The only thing I could think of doing next is to short out the wiring in the luggage compartment next!

Looking at the wiring diagram of the 1989 model, the circuit for the pads is a series configuration. Much like Xmas tree lights.
The 1st one is Front Left wheel and the last is Right Rear, so a continuity check should show near zero ohms. From there it goes to the Central Electric and Central Informer, not sure exactly what they are but suspect that one is a module.
After 4 years being laid up, I should imagine corrosion is the main problem and that unpluging the sockets of the modules and spaying with some contact cleaner and checking the ground points by cleaning any dull metal surfaces with fine sand paper back to bright metal.
I would also give the car a good thrashing with some high speed braking as you know the pads are good so no damage can ensue.
