Help: Do 997.1 C2S cars have plastic rear wheel arch liners?

I was hoping someone could help me out here, I gave my car in for an exhaust replacement under warranty last week and today when I was looking at the car I noticed that I could see the rear exhaust baffler boxes when looking from the side of the car into the rear wheel arch.

The front wheel arch does have a black plastic liner around the whole arch, but on my rears the whole of the exhaust is exposed and is visible.

Could somebody with a 997.1 2S tell me if their rear wheel arches are indeed completely lined or if there is no cover on them thanks.

I called up 2 OPC's, one said the car should have a plastic lining whereby you cant see the exhaust from the wheel and the other OPC who did the repair is claiming that 997.1 cars never came with wheel liners in the first place.

The OPC is quite a long drive away and I don't have any other car close by I could check against.

Thanks for any help in advance!

You could see the exhaust boxes on my Gen 1 C2S - i.e no liner. Oddly, I can't remember if the Gen 2 car did but the present car certainly does!

Hi,

I can see the exhaust box on my Gen 1 C4S Cab there's also a supporting arm just in front of the exhaust box which seems to be there to stop the lower PU from flapping about"¦"¦"¦"¦.

"¦"¦"¦ just out of interest why are they changing your exhaust under warranty"¦"¦

Cheers Mike

Our 2008 Gen 1 C2S Cab doesn't have liners. We've had it since new. Originally, I wondered why it didn't have them and assumed that it should have them. TBH I never got around to asking the OPC why it didn't have them, or asking any other owners if their car had them. Looking back, I think this was because I thought it likely that it wasn't supposed to have them due to heat in that area.

I'm pleased to hear that others don't have them either, and that my reasoning may have been correct [;)]

Gen 1 and 2 have no covers on the back boxes, mainly so that we can find something to use our metal polish on, other than the exhaust tips.

That's another nice thing about the turbo - out of sight, out of mind! (Not that I've ever been seen applying metal polish to exhaust boxes!)[:D]

This is what mine looked like when I had too much time on my hands

Yes there is a liner if you can call it that, it does not cover the exhaust boxes its just a a tiny piece of plastic. Does any one really polish their exhaust boxes? WOW I'm impressed...
