Help; do windows drop on their own?

I tried a search and couldn't find anything to help, but I have a feeling that there was a problem on Mk2's whereby the windows would drop on their own. Went to use my car today after 3 days, and found the passenger and driver side windows in the partial open position (as for either opening or closing the hood). I didn't leave it like that, and hadn't had the roof down before putting it away. Is there something I can check? Could it have happend as I unlocked the car or is its first warranty work about to follow?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have experianced problems with earlier boxster's with windows dropping as an when they felt like it!
The usualy cause was faulty roof control relay. Other than that check the battery state of charge!

Fairly recently I went to my car and found both windows in a semi open/closed position. I regularly find one or both boots ajar. The boots I associate with my keys being in one of my pockets (the bottons get pressed).

I did also attribute the windows to the same, as if you hold the door lock/unlock button down the windows will open or close while the button is being held. It's only happened once which is why i'm attributing to keys being in pockets.

Just before Xmas I had a battery that was on it's way out, ie the end of it's life and it did the same thing ....... got a nice new Bosch 85 AH battery and all is well ......... As for the keys in the pocket idea, possible I suppose, but I have to almost jump on my keys to get the boot and bonnet open, are yours very sensitive, including the window operation portion (ie Hold the un-lock button down for a long period will open drop both windows)? just an idea ....... cheers, Mike

I'll have to investigate some of these ideas. The car is new, so I'd expect the battery to be okay, and I hadn't been anywhere near it for 3 days having gone away on business. I don't know whether the windows either open or close with the key, so need to look into that.

I recalled, I thought, some problems where the windows were known to drop on their own, and thought it resulted in key operation being ditched.

Had a similar problem about a year ago but just with the drivers window. Would occasionally find drivers window open and the car still locked. Window definitely closed when the car was locked. Also had rare instances when the same window did not drop when door opened or did not raise again properly when the door was closed. Was advised by PC that window control unit was replaced under warranty and no further problems encountered. Hope the above is of some help
