Help. How do I remove the pad sensors?

944 turbo (928 calipers)

How?

Are the wires a male push fit into the top of the sensor? Mine have a wire going into the middle of the top of the sensor with a spring steel clip each side that appears only to grip the wire insulation.

If not then how is the sensor replaced?

The sensor cannot move up and out of the pad as far as I can see.

I`ve got about 6mm of pad left and consider that I`d better change them as I`ve a track day coming up.


PS: whats all this about stuck on vibration damper thingy`s?

To remove the wires you need to open the black plastic cylinder the white connector lives in and then they just pull out. You can then cut solder the wear sensor wires together and throw the sensors away - they don't fit in decent pads anyway.

The stick on vibration dampers are considered optional also (but I use them). They are basically a circular sticky pad with a metal "rose" on the back. The rose is spring steel and clips into the hollow in the piston face, then the pad sticks to the sticky side. Note there are two sizes to match the different sized pistons.
