Help - Insurance in Germany et cetera

Hy all,

It was only a matter of time... I'm moving to Germany and wondered. Is there an Insurance policy et cetera that works from the UK for cars abroad? The prices for quotes I have received to date from insurers in Germany are far from being pocket friendly. Does any one have experience in these matters or suggestions? Also does anyone know how the whole road TAX thing works?
