Help! Many Thoughts Needed!

Hi guys

I will be in St. Andrews to study for my Masters degree on September this year.
I'm a Thai citizen who currently owns a 2003 STi. I will have to part from my car as soon as I leave my country and would certainly miss it a lot.

Therefore, I am contemplating buying a car once I arrive in Scotland. I have always been a big fan of 986 Boxster S and its price in the UK is rather affordable.

I would appreciate your answers based on these questions:

1. Due to their price similarities, why should I not purchase BMW E46 M3 or 2005 STi over the Porsche Boxster S 986?

2. Is a 986 Boxster S an 'attention-getter' or rarer when compared to the latter cars mentioned in the first question?

3. Are running costs adsurdly expensive on these Boxsters? I will look into facelifted 986 Boxster S and this should ultimately decrease future expenses.

Additional comments which may be relevant to my enquiries are welcomed!

Cheers

Well....

1) The Boxster is a pure spider and as such has 2 seats and a smaller boot then the other 2.
If you're using it to browse around the town (it's quite a small town, so you'll probably end up walking around, as it's easier) or do trips, that is a fantastic car. Otherwise if you're thinking about having a more confortable car with a big boot and 4 seats, then this is the wrong car.
So it's down to what are you going to do with it.

2) It's a Porsche.

3) I would suggest a 987 as the interior are newer then the 986 and for an early 987 price won't be that different from a 986. Service is every 2 years (dipends which one you're doing but it's between 300 and 700 pounds). Get one that has a recent service and you'll probably sell it before you need to do another one (if you're staying here 1 year forn the master, that is). Be sure the service has been done by a Porsche Center.

I wouldn't have a doubt at all as the BMW and STI are just normal cars )

See you in September in your baby Porsche.
