HELP - Need Clarke Vehicle Lift delivering from Coalville

In order to help with my winter suspension removal and rebuild / upgrade, I have bought a Clarke VL1800 Vehicle Lift off Ebay.

Another one is for sale here :-

However, the big problem is that the seller is not now able to deliver it, as their lorries do not have a wide enough tail lift etc. and it is too heavy to lift off from a high lorry.

So, I desperately need someone that can collect it from Coalville (near Leicester) and deliver it to me in Stratford-upon-Avon - about 45 miles down the M69 / A46.

I will obviously pay someone to do this for / with me.

It is 2900mm X 300mm X 100mm and weighs 250KG - it can be dragged on wheels, but is obviously heavy to lift to a high height.

Ideally they would have a vehicle with a hoist - simply lift on and off
More likely, a car trailer. The seller has a business and therefore lots of help available to lift on to the trailer. I can have a couple of people at this end to drag off.

Any ideas or help available please - getting desperate now.

Unfortunately busy this week, so could only do weekend(s) for next couple of weeks.

Yours hopefully,

Ian

Hi Ian,

I am in the used machine tool business based in the West Midlands and we transport used metal cutting machinery every week. These weigh anything from 1ton to 25 tons. Obviously you do not need a large truck to transport the vehicle lift but lifting on and off could be difficult.

The cheapest 'one man band' truck operator that we use that has a rear mounted hydraulic hiab crane is a Keith Jackson. He is based near Lichfield. Tel No. 01543-255700. Mobile No. 07860-794987. Price may still be a bit on the high side though for your needs.

Alternatively, if you can get help lifting on and off I would suggest 'Mark Lewis Light Haulage' who is based in Leicester area. He has from memory a Ford Transit Pickup and charges on a mileage rate. Tel. No. 0116-260 9858. Mobile No. 07836-580614.

Best of luck.

Hi Ian,

We have one of these lifts at work and know it wont be a problem to move. Unfortunately we are unable to give you a hand but have a steel, flat bed trailer which we are willing to let you use if you have a towing vehicle. We live just off junction 10 of the M42 which isnt far from Coalville so if you are interested give me a call at work on 01827 284170.

Thank you everyone that has replied.

Latest position is that the 'seller' has now been able to get one of their delivery drivers (lorry with tail lift) to deliver to me around 4pm Sunday.

FMAN has an engine crane that I can borrow (getting it to my house to be planned still!), as the lift will come off the back of the lorry, but needs to be turned 90 degrees so it fits across the back of the tail lift (it is wider than the tail lift) and then lowered.

If anyone is in the area Sunday p.m. and has 'muscle' then you are most welcome. Should be OK if I can get a couple of mates to help though.

Will not be risking anyone back going.

Ian
