Help Needed - A squeak coming from the car

Hello,

I have a squeaking noise coming from the rear left wheel. It is on a rotation and at really slow speeds it seems to be more of a grinding noise.

At high speeds it seems to be a nocking noise.

The squeak seems to go away when wet or if I am turning right.

I have taken the wheel off, taken the caliper off, checked the pads, cleaned eveything yet still it squeaks.

A creaking noise at low speed often points to the lower control arm ball joint - it happens as you go over bumps. (Quite common). If it is a grinding noise that happens in time with the wheel rotation, it might be a wheel bearing, or a drive shaft joint. (Quite rare).

Thanks for that. I was thinking bearing but its just that the grinding goes away at high speeds and is replaced by a squeak. I am taking it to PARR on Thursday so hopefully it is nothing too expensive.

I noticed yesterday a lot more brake dust around the wheel in question. Could the disc be warped. It is the rear disc though?

Hi mate, (hope you recovered after the Candy run)

It could be that you have a stone between your pad and disk causing the wear and grinding noise. Is the disk scored?

Hi Mate

Checked that, took the caliper off, too the disk off, cleaned everything and put back together again. There are no marks on the disc, but after finding all the dust I think it must be something to do with a pad rubbing.

Probably did it on the Candy Run. lol

Are you going to the Fast Fest at Santa pod on Sunday. Free tickets with the Candy Run and you get to go down the strip for free. The Candy Girls are going to be ther as well. I think the meet is at the Dome again early Sunday morning.

Can't I'm off to a friends stag this weekend. [8D]
If you're interested I've heard that some of the Candy run girls will be at the Ace tonight [:D] (not sure if I can make that either)[:-] Sanjib and Kish will likely be there..u going? (a bit far for you I know)

I was going to but that squeaking noise is quite embarrassing. Taking it to Parr tomorrow so should be fixed by the weekend.

Found out what the problem was - My wheels were actually falling apart. I have split rims on it and they had been refurb'd but just not been put together very well. The noise was them coming apart. Considering I was racing a C4S on Sunday and reaching speeds upto 140 I guess I am kind of lucky.
