Help needed - in Scotland and need replacement rear tyre

Guys

I am with some friends driving in Scotland and we have had a puncture on one of our group's 993 C2 at the rear. Unfortunately, the tyre wall is damaged so a replacement tyre is needed.

We have tried one of the national chains in Scotland without any success (they say they definitely don't have stock of the required size - 245/45 -R16). I believe we will struggle to find a replacement on a Sunday.

I know it's a long shot but does anyone have any ideas for a quick/short term replacement that would enable us to carry on using the car for the holiday (until Monday evening)? Options would be a new tyre, a usable second-hand tyre in the right size, perhaps even a tyre and rim we could use and return.

I'm open to suggestions!

regards
Nick

Looks like we might have found a solution, so panic over for the moment.

Post again if the solution falls through - I have a spare 17" rear wheel and tyre, which should have the same circumference as a 16" or I could lend you my two 16" winter rears

A belated thanks for your offer. Ultimately I wasn't able to reconnect to read your post and we elected to have the car recovered to the NorthWest of England.

Your offer was however much appreciated, albeit in retrospect.

regards
Nick
