Help Needed Removing Trim

Guest

New member
My friend (Paint Sprayer) has very kindly offered to colour code the trim that the handbrake lever sits around, does anybody have any instructions on how to remove it?

My car is a 986 Boxster .

Thanks.

I saw your message and did not respond because I could not figure out from your question what trim piece you wanted to remove and paint.

Sorry, my mistake, I meant handbrake lever surround, think there are only 2 torx screws holding this trim.

Is it the center console that you want to paint, like in the picture?

B&M has good instructions on how to remove the center console, as you need to remove it to install their short shift. I cannot find a direct link to their pdf instructions, so maybe someone else has it handy. http://www.bmracing.com/

Don't know what year you have. The easy consoles to paint are 1997-1999. In 2000 Porsche went to something they called a soft touch finish on plastic parts. This is like a thin layer of rubber paint on the plastic. This finish needs to be removed or your paint will not stick.
