Hi,

i currently own a 1996 Porsche 993 cabriolet. My Porsche is currently undergoing some repairs at Nelson Porsche in Stockton (turbo pads and discs and new springs). While these were getting replaced thought it may be a good idea to Overhaul my 18” bbs split rim alloy wheels.

The issue been is company overhauling the wheels has come up with a few issues trying to split the wheels (Allen key bolts corroded at the back and is going To take longer than expected). I am trying to find someone who may have a spare set of 18” wheels to borrow me Until mine have been overhauled, main issue been it’s still stuck on the 4 post lift at Nelson’s and Without the wheels he cannot remove it to carry out and further work in the garage.

i would be grateful of any assistance.

Thanks

kind Regards

You're welcome to borrow my set of 17" wheels with winter tyres (currently for sale on the forum) for a few days, subject to returning them in the same condition. The bad news is they are in the Scottish Borders near Lanark! I used them briefly on a 95 993 cab so they fit, and some say the 17's give a nicer ride with no detriment to the handling. I changed from 18's to 17's for summer use when I bought the car, and found it just about perfect.

Just a thought but if it's only to get the car off the hoist and not go on the road, surely any wheels with the same PCD (5 x 130?) would do? Like perhaps a Passat or similar VAG car.

You don’t need 18s - any set of wheels 17” or up will clear the brakes, probably 16s will as well.
