Help needed tracing the history of my Boxster

As the kids contracted Covid while watching the football in the pub last week means we are in isolation until the end of next week, boredom has set in and I need something to do. Thought I would try fill in the blanks on the history of the Boxster. If anyone can help fill in the blanks or has any tips for digging up information this would be gratefully received.

original reg: RX04LJC supplied by Porsche Park Lane to a Mr.Taylor Conwy in 2004
2006 serviced at Porsche Chester, 2008-2011 serviced by Woods of Sussex (long gone) no idea on the owners ( think there were 2)
2011 owned by Mrs.Edwards in Surrey, 2012 owned by Ms.Nimmo in Marlow. before heading North to its owner previous to me Mr.Howes in Leeds.

The car has been well looked after so hopefully someone knows it’s whereabouts during its missing years of 2006-2011.

cheers

Today, data protection will stop you dead in your tracks.

Samefor classiccars via the dvla, so you can only get going if you happen to get a name from a previous ( like the first) owner who would be willing to tell you who they sold it to, could be a big ask.

No official channel such as the dvla will divulge anything to you.

I thought as much. It’s a shame that the dealer that serviced it during its ‘missing years’ 2008-2011 Woods of Sussex are no longer about.

Porsche in Chester have come back this morning with some internal service details but drawing a blank at the moment.

I am sure you have done the free Reg checker for MOT history to see if anything's been done throughout its life.

But as said now days it extremely difficult tracking a car past with data protection.

Enjoy your car.

Quick update, just had a great email, with old photos back from the owners of the Boxster in 2011 & 2013. They bought the car from Woods of Sussex where the car had been part ex’s for a newer Boxster. It had a private number of S55BRK but this was transferred by the previous, unknown owner to their newer Boxster. They sold the car to a Mini dealer (Cooper Banstead) in Surrey in April 2013. Just checked DVLA and the private number is now on a BMW. I was hoping that they had stuck with Porsche and it may have been an easier investigation. 😕 if anyone recognises the number, I would be grateful for a lead on the owner. Thanks

If you have V5 in your name Porsche dealership that serviced will forward all invoices against your vehicles VRM.

Not always - some have changed their policy even since GDPR rules came in

I have had 2 boxsters over the last 3 years - both had been previously serviced at Porsche West London, in the 1st case - I contacted them - they asked for a copy of the V5 and then forwarded me the "job sheets" that went with the services with the costs and billing/owners details redacted.

18 months later I swapped cars, contacted the same person at Porsche West London, asked for the same thing, and provided the copy of the V5 as before, this time... " sorry, because of GDPR we can't provide that information" - despite showing them the copies of their own emails 18 months previous saying "you did before and GDPR was around then" they said "nope".

I have heard from a couple of dealers now that they are simply throwing away everything except the service book on some cars now. Others ( Porsche specialists) have said "they accidentally leave a folder full of random bits of paper that they didn't notice" in the glove box.

Might even be a market in providing a site/service where previous owners who have kept and understand the value of full documentation can upload copies, have the system redact the appropriate info ( if you want ) - and create an method of providing a contact email to any future owners to contact them - kind of an adoption intermediary for cars.....
