help needed with immobiliser...

Hi, need some help pls....

When i bought my 993, it had the Porsche alarm as well as a second immobiliser. The immobiliser is the one which has a small fob: strip of plastic with a small metal disc on the end (looks a bit like a watch battery). To start the car, i need to deactivate the alarm and also touch the immobiliser fob onto a similar metal disc on the lower dash.

Anyway, i had the main alarm upgraded and wanted to remove the second immobiliser... anyone know if this is a DIY job or do i need to have it professionally removed ? The receiver for the immobiliser is already loose (having been removed from the dash when the car went in to have the lower dash trimmed).

Any thoughts much appreciated!
 
You would need to trace the wires back into the car's loom and identify where it "breaks" the car's cricuits to take them through the immobiliser and then reconnect those wires. It probably won't be easy; it's not meant to be!

It can be an easy job or a real Bit**. Depends how electrically minded you are and if you have the patients too. I worked on my friends 85 Carrera that had a Porsche Immobiliser & a Cobra one too. Most of the wiring went to the ECU / DME Relay under the passenger seat (Easiest way I found was to remove the seat). I had to remove both systems due to a fault then test them individually to find the fault. That would be a good place to start. When the other one was upgraded did they link the two systems together (Do you have to disarm both before the car starts?) If they did you might have a warranty issue to!
