help needed with vacuum routing 944S2

is anyone going to be under their bonnet today ?
I would be extremely grateful for a bit of assistance with identifying part of the vacuum system.

I have a a dual vacuum output on the firewall on the driver side down near to the steering shaft. There is a double vacuum spigot sticking out of the firewall which I assume goes to the heater components behind the dash.

One of the spigots is empty ? there is no vacuum pipe attached to it. Could someone please confirm what is connected to their vacuum spigot on the firewall please.
.The vacuum pipe in the other spigot joins with the vacuum expansion chamber and the FPR via a non return valve

Mine has a short length of green pipe which appears to T into the fuel damper line and then forward to the inlet tract, can't quite see if it is the one before or after the throttle butterfly.
Hope that is some help!

thanks Mike I'll go check my vacuum pipes again. i think the PO mucked about with them as I know he removed the AirCon before I bought the car (bleep**$)

This is the vacuum layout that I have on my 89 S2 . I need to know what both the firewall vacuum spigots connect to. I only have one of mine connected, the other is open ?
please excuse crude sketch MS Paint is rather limited.

well I think I've finally worked out where the other vacuum connector should connect to .....the heater control on the block !. I found a loose vacuum pipe near the firewall
I can't think how the pipe became detached from both rubber fittings and dropped off so I assume it has been missing for the entire time that I have had the car. ... 11 years :ROFLMAO:

I've never been able to fathom the heater operation but have always put that down to the PO having removed the AirCon.
I'll get a piece of hose and connect it up and see what happens

Thank you for taking the trouble to go check your car for me Mike it is much appreciated .

Hope you've sorted it, meant to have a look at mine in the light to get a couple of pics.
The vac system is long and complicated on these!

I think I have now Mike thanks you. I got lucky
I find the lack of help and input on this forum these days to be incredible.

I don't know how many 944S2 owners read the posts on this forum lately but it seems there wasn't one member that could be bothered to go out to their car and look under their bonnet to help a fellow Porsche 944 owner !.........

When I think of the thousands of hours I've spent helping other 944 owners on here over the past 15+ years

Times sure change

Yes, I think when the forum was down for a couple of weeks everybody found other means to communicate, including me and few came back.

Agree with Mike, the forum "refresh" has reduced traffic here. My car lives about a quarter of a mile away, so not very handy for these sort of queries

Always satisfying sorting your own problems out though.. :)

I didn't realise that the forum had a wipeout recently? That is always a forum killer if the issue isn't resolved promptly.

A couple of weeks ! strewth... that suggests that whoever is running the show couldn't give a rats orifice . Right from the very beginning back in the late 90s I remember how much controversy the forum caused with many members feeling that non PCGB members shouldn't have access to the forum because they hadn't paid anything.

Shame really there used to be some good banter on here and plenty of helpful advice. I've not been on the forum much for a few years so I haven't seen the decline.

So where do the water cooled crowd hang these days ? Tipec ,Rennlist ? Facebook?

quarter of a mile !.....you could run over there and back :ROFLMAO:
I hadn't realised how quiet the forum had become its practically DOA ..... What a terrible waste of resource. I guess all the air cooled lot won't miss us oily rag 944 brigade but its going to hit the club scene hard I should have though. We always made up the majority of the forum.

Interesting debate guys, off topic but nonetheless, relevant.
ive been using forums for years and no doubt about it they have not only changed, but also how people use them. Back in the day there were very few...god I can remember logging in with a modem connection. I am one of the aircooled brigade I'm afraid but was lucky enough to have had a new 944, and I bought a black 944 Turbo in 2006, sadly marital circumstances changed and inevitable reduction in garages meant the 944 had to go. My 25 year old son has a 944 as a slow burner resto, so I follow this section fondly.
Forums are victims of their own success, and I will now use them frequently simply by searching archives to find answers. Think the point about people not being bothered to look is a bit harsh. I tend to do my forum fix late in the evening, about 11.00 pm and often think I'll have a look at mine . By the time I do often I find someone else has got there before me.
i did get fed up looking at this sub forum a while ago and stopped entirely for a few months due to some obsessive compulsive posting, and whilst amusing, was irritating in the end.
This is a great forum guys, compared to other forums it is in the top echelons so please don't beat yourselves up, keep it up, I'm certain the club is proud of you.

it might be useful to draw up a diagram of the two different vacuum systems turbo and S2 . I'd imagine they are basically very similar with a few additional links on the turbo models. When I get a mo I'll complete the diagram I posted earlier and correct the date too ....1979 doh !....:ROFLMAO: must have been thinking of my classic bike .
