HELP! Non starter

Can anyone assist?

A few times recently I have taken my 1983 SC out, returned home and after a short time gone to start her and she turns over but does not start. Today I reversed her out of the garage, turned her off, and about 2 hours later went to start her and again she turned over but did not, and still does not start.
The car has a gemini immobiliser which apparently works fine. I have checked all fuses. There is no smell of fuel, so the car is not flooded. I have read the brooklands book, and have taken the airfilter off and checked the valve/lever when the ignition is on, however this does not start the fuel pump....i think thats what its supposed to do!

I am thinking its either a fuel pump problem or the immobiliser. If the fuel pump is knackered would it have played up before it actually stopped altogether? I have removed the shield and checked the pump...they dont tell you about the bolts on the shield also holding the anti roll bar in place!!! there does not appear to be power going to the pump....I am at a loss, apart from overiding the immobiliser or just getting a new fuel pump. Can anyone reccomend where to buy one if I need to.

many thanks

Hi Mark,
Don't laugh but the first thing to check is that you have petrol in the petrol tank??.
There was another member who had the same problem and although the pertol gauge said that there was petrol in the tank he did not because the float had stuck on the shaft and did not slide down to give a proper reading, this is a common problem. This member did a shed load of unnecessary work , like buying new fuel pumps etc only to find out some weeks later that he had no gravy in the tank, so first things first.
You said that you checked the fuel pump and found that there is no volts on the pump ( i.e. with ignition on) therefore check the fuel pump relay and fuse.
If your immobiliser is a fuel pump immobiliser then I would isolate the immobiliser and try again.
Don't go spending money until you have done a few more checks.

John, thanks for this. Can you believe i got her started yesterday, only today to find she wont start again!! I can only assume having done all the wiring bits that it is the fuel pump, however I shall go through all the appropriate checks again before I buy.

I checked that there was fuel in the tank...would'nt be the first time I have spent hours, days etc and forgot to check the obvious!

Cheers

Mark

If there is still no voltage (must be checked whilst cranking) then don't worry about the pump yet! I'd be thinking fuel pump relay.
