Help - oil leak (RMS & Clutch replaced)

All, I need your help again.

After reading all the RMS threads and your replies (many thanks), I took the car in for the RMS to
be replaced. While the OPC had all the back end of the car off, they said about replacing the clutch as
it was partly worn or so they say. (the car has only done 31000 miles). I told them to go ahead and they knocked a £100 off as a goodwill gesture = Total cost £850.

I got the car back and had a smile on my face, looking forward to many more miles motoring.

On the second day of driving the car I started to notice that 1st and 2nd gear were really hard to get
into (more so when changing down gears). When the car warms up it isn't as abad but is still bad.

I took it back to my OPC and they said the cables under the car probably needed loosening. So booked it in and got the car back with it no better. They booked it in again only this time to replace the clutch. I got the car back yesterday only for it to be still the same. This time they said the clutch did not need replacing and they adjusted the cables again and THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY GEARBOX.

I'm so angry - there was nothing a matter with my GEARBOX, NOR CLUTCH, before I took it.

The OPC have now said that they will replace the clutch again (after me insisting so) even though this is not a clutch issue.

Can any of your kind selves give me any advise.

Regards

If it isn't under warranty you'll just have to be steadfast and emphasise what the car went in for in the first place and insist they return the car to its former working state.

JCB..

I'm afraid it's not under warranty. I have told the POC that it was not like that before it went in and
their comments were " HOW DO WE KNOW IT WASN'T LIKE THAT BEFORE IT COME IN".

I wasn't very happy with that comment and made them a tad red faced afterwards.

Does anyone know if the problem I'm having could be the clutch - It's got to be as there was nothing
a matter with it before..

Andy

Andy,

a not completely disengaging clutch can make engagement of lower gears difficult.

BUT they have replced it twice already???

Nic

The clutch has only been replaced once and since replacing it i've had problems changing down
in 2nd and 1st gear.

MY OPC thereafter said that the linkages would need adjusting - they adjusted and the problem still existed. They then said that we will have to take the clutch out again BUT when I picked the car up
yesterday, they said they had adjusted the linkages yet again.

I asked them why they hadn't taken the clutch out like they said they were going to do and they
replied that they now though it wasn't a clutch problem and was a gearbox issue.

Are they spinning me a yarn - is it they don't want to take the clutch out again as it's time consuming.

All I know is that there was nothing wrong at all with that car before I took it in for repair.

Regards

Andy

I hope I am wrong but I suspect that you may be well and truelly stuffed. They only have your word for the fact it was OK before they started on it, so in effect you are relying on the integrity of the OPC. From what I have read on this and other forums this quality, with one or two exceptions is completely lacking in OPC's ( and it must be said in the motor trade in general)
