HELP on true value!

No it's not, it's a G reg 2.7 Lux.

True value can only be gauged after you've seen it, but if his description is 100% honest then his price is in the ballpark. A rough 2.7 would be circa £1000, a really, really good one circa £3000

I need an auto!! Long story!!

Thought these had Merc Auto boxes???

Also its the Oval Dash at this age which I liked on my C reg!

So does this have a Merc or Audi transmission?

Does it make a difference .. re reliability??

Also .. ok its had boywork but hey its an older car!

What do I look out for?

My C reg car was spot on. Being Galvanised seemed to have protected it!

Where are the danger areas I need to look at??

Re bodywork, just a couple of things i've picked up; I'd take a small torch, pop out the grilles in the door frame (clip at top pull it down slightly with fingernail and ease the grilll out top first) and look inside the sills. Also look in the boot under the carpet. Feel around the inner rim of the wheel arches. Feel front and rear carpets for damp and sniff car for damp. Rear numberplate lamps also good spot for rust starting.

I'd be very surprised if these had Merc auto boxes - the gearbox on the manual is pretty much straight off an Audi of the same vintage. Are you confusing it with the 928 auto? Those had the Borg Warner box from the Merc.

Oli.
