hello everyone, please help , I took my 996 2001 carrera out today and while out the temperature gauge was reading 80 and gauge in the centre but the red light was flashing, oil pressure etc all normal can any one help? Thanks in advance

Check level in the expansion tank. The handbook details what the frequency of the flashing light corresponds too, but it's most likely that the level has dropped below the sensor in the expansion tank. Once topped up, look out for leaks!

Have you checked coolant level after cool down of engine? Then check for leaks, drips on garage floor. Might just need a top-up with warmer weather and spirited drive.

Thanks very much to both of you much appreciated. Not to be too thick lol! w can you suggest to top up with?

You can buy a mix of water/antifreeze from most motor factors called Comma G30 Xstream (OAT). Also Porsche sell an approved anti-freeze. Ideally, you need to use distilled water if using neat antifreeze. Be careful not to mix different types of antifreeze though.
Make sure you watch levels after each trip or before you start to ensure there is no other problem.
