I’m in the process of buying a 2015 (65) Boxster 981 GTS from an OPC. They are replacing all four tyres and have offered the option of either Pirelli or Continental. I asked for Michelin however they said the N rated rear tyres are not available from Michelin. I wanted Michelin because I think they are a little quieter and better in the wet than the Pirelli. I have no experience of Continental. Can anyone offer their opinion / advice / informed opinion on Continental v Pirelli or is their little to choose? Any advice or would be appreciated. Thanks

They are talking rubbish, Michelin do do an N rated tyre for your car and it is the one worth going for over the others.

Michelin are probably working out more expensive.

Wifes GTS has Pirelli which to be honest seem fine only issue experienced with our last 981 they cracked badly circa 4 years old.
Continental seem to be the tyre of choice for comfort if your looking for a slightly softer ride.
All of the above are small margins for the average road user as long as N Rated
Good luck.

John,

With many things in short supply right now it may just be that your dealer is unable to source the Michelins? Having said that, the dealers do seem to favour Pirellis … some sort of preferential financial tie-up I presume.

Incidentally the front tyre available from Camskill referenced above by Richard is N0 but assuming it’s a 265/35 R20, their rear tyre offering isn’t N-rated.

I’ve just had a message from the OPC that they have been able to source and order the Michelins.
Thank you everyone for your input ??
