Help power steering problem

Desperate help needed please,i am trying to fit power steering onto my 83 944,however i have bought a later model power steering rack.
The arms are longer on the newer rack but i have sorted this by swopping them for correct ones from a 924s.
The next problem is fixing the newer rack onto the original cross member,the newer rack seems to just bolt on directly to the cross member whilst the original manual rack used brackets with rubber inserts to absorb any vibration,is this correct and will the car be drivable?
