Help Required Please

HI Folks

The IAM have asked if we could provide a speaker for one of their club nights to talk about their porsche passion so i am hoping for some volunteers please?

I would be happy to talk about how I moved htrough my car history to end up within the porsche marque but i don't think it would be very entertaining to listen to me banging on about that for a while! I also don't feel qualified to talk in any depth about the marque as i'm not really a petrol head.

So if anyone would be willing to help out please even if it was a dual effort i would be very grateful.

I feel a bit guilty if we can't help given the effort they (and David Heath) have put into our club so come on chaps I know we can do this if we try!

I'd be happy to help and could even use some photos from our trips to Le Mans etc. Given I'm gearing up for IAM qualification its the least I could do. Not able to talk on the air cooled side though that would need to be Nick, Graham et al. Only limiter for me would be diary constraints, extremely busy at the moment but with advance warning would be able to sort something.

In case you get stuck and Ashley can't do it, aslong as it isn't to far away from York I would be happy to bimble up from R7 and do it. I gave such a talk to our region last year.
 
Thank you both for that. The meeting is in Durham city on the 3rd tuesday of each month and it looks as though they may be looking for a May speaker (or later).

They have requested a talk about an hour long on porsche cars (anything interesting really)

I don't know if this would suit either or both of you? All i could offer would be about 15 mins on how i moved from DAF 33 to Porsche 911!! I am happy to recind this offer if either or both of you could come up with something better!!!

Durham isn't too bad on the train.

My talk was on the history of Porsche starting at 1900 up to 1963, but could bring it up to date to extend it to an hour. But I don't want to step on anyone's toes in R3 so give Ashley first refusal.
 
sounds like we have two options, with Supersport being the more professional of the two!!!!

Julie I'll give you a call and discuss what I was thinking of doing and see if that hits the mark. I've loads of photos and the data projector and screen but it is very much recent stuff with some of my owner experiences thrown in. If its a more official history type talk then that wouldn't be my bag and Supersport's offer is more appropriate. Perhaps we could do both.
May is plenty of notice so will be ok for that date if required.

Supersport thanks for your offer and no problems with encroaching in our region. Thinking about it your talk would be really interesting for R3 members if you're up for a visit to the friendly region. No doubt Nick (RO) will be along soon to confirm the invitation

Ashley i'll wait until we can chat through it. they have been quite vague see quote below

'I just thought that someone might like to expound for say an hour on"¦.. Porsche cars with a few slides - or may be someone has travelled the world in their Porsche with pictures"¦. Etc etc'

So the personal touch may be the right one but i don't think they'd be upset if we took up supersports offer as well for another talk!

also a great idea for Supersport to come to our region i'd certainly like to hear it!

However it turns out, I would be happy to come up there and give the talk. It fitted quite well in last year with the 60 year aniversary. It is surprising how many people weren't aware of the really early years.

My real name is Mark and you will find me in the Yorkshire section as I take over as R7 RO from Ian & Sharon.
