Help required with a few questions

Well now I've had her for a few months I've noticed a few things and wonder if anyone has any answers/advice.

1: Windscreen wipers, work fine on 2nd and 3rd settings, but no movement on first or intermittent, and doesnt park at bottom of windscreen, is it more likely to be the switch or the motor ?

2: Slightly smoky (whitish) on startup when cold, disappears when running but reappears when warm if left idling. Potentially serious ?

3: Down on power, took it to Alan Jeffries RR in Plymouth and it came up with 158 BHP at the flywheel. I can appreciate it losing some power over time but 30HP at only 100,000 miles seems a little extreme.

4: Throttle response. Up to 50% throttle and engine pulls fine but beyond that nothing seems to happen, common on the S ?

5: Economy. now I know the book figures need to be taken with a liberal dose of salt ( 45mpg at a steady 56.. your 'avin a larf [:D] ), however it seems no matter how I drive I always return around 27-28mpg, this on a 33mile each way commute to work along a quiet dual carriage way. Seems to make no difference if I hold it at 60mph and drive gently or 'give it some beans'

So, anyone any ideas or suggestions ?

Apart from the above everything else seems pretty much ok and to be honest none have spoiled my fun of ownership [;)]

The 944S do seem to give quite low figures on the dyno, mine is down to 150ish too, as was Rick's and we're both around the 100K mark. I believe a top end rebuild may restore the power closer to factory figures.

Throttle seems to be pretty linear against travel of the pedal to me, not sure what this might be. I'll double check when I next drive it. I tend not to use part throttle much [:D]

Your economy sounds about right to me, the only time I get more from a tank is on decently long runs of 100 miles or so.
