Can anybody help? Left the car for a week so car has gone into sleep mode. Went to use the key manually which I have done many times. You know, as long as you put the key in the ignition the alarm will stop. However, this time, turned the key in the door lock, alarm went off but door was still locked. I've done this three times now and the door won't open. I need the car urgently, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is the door still locked after turning the key, or could it be that the handle has become detached? Try unlocking the car on the driver's side, and then opening the passenger door. If that works, try leaning in and pulling the inside handle on the driver's door. Put your ear defenders on first! [;)]

No, the door is still locked. When pulling the handle the window moves down slightly as per normal and then goes back up again. It is definitely locked.

Is the alarm stopping/central locking working? If so suggest you operate the lock manually , bip the key fob and then get in from the passenger side. Good luck. J

The passengers door also remains locked. When trying to open the drivers side door, I can feel the pull on the linkage so it is all still connected internally

Turn the key clockwise slowly until you see the light inside on passenger door come on, then hold in that position and the drivers window then lowers. Put key in ignition and switch the elctrics on (no need to start engine). You will then be able to take the key out and unlock on the button. Like you I had this problem and it works for me after car left 5 days.
