Help searching for 964!

Hi Guys

Been a member of the club for a few years, don't use the forum often but do enjoy the magazine!

I really do need some help, I'm desperate to do a 964 project, Singer type style crossed with ST looks, so I'm after a car that is maybe a little sorry for itself, blown engine, poor paint.... Happy to have a nice car too, but would prefer to breath life into a sad one! I don't want rust and would love a black one with non working aircon! I really am finding it difficult to catch one (my work does not allow constantly checking PH!)

I'm very much a fan of Porsche, currently have a beautiful 996 Gt2 club sport in basalt black with only 18,000 miles and full Porsche history and original paint..... If I find the right 964 I may be persuaded to part with this for someone else to enjoy (amazing cars, totally misunderstood and a true supercar!)

Anyways please please help if you can, can get me on my mobile 07788976637 feel free to text if you hear or see anything!

Thanks, I promise I'll post pics of the project!

Mike

Good luck with the search Mike. As you know you have to be quick to snap them up. There was a black one on PH classifieds last week, £18K and sold within a couple of days.

This looks good. Doubt it will last long. Lots of good stuff done. Very good price imo

I've heard of two cabrios that are for sale. If you are after a Singer look, I guess this wouldn't interest you. If I'm wrong, let me know.

Your 996 GT2 clubbie is going to go balistic in a couple of years valuewise,i would keep it!!!!!Original ones are uber rare!

Looks like a nice C2 if it checks out...

Yes, that's Raoul's who's on Rennlist. I believe it's a good one. [:)]

Perhaps the £18k value I estimated for the insurance is a bit on the low side.

I still need to send off the condition form and pictures for the agreed valuation but I'm sure they'll use my £18k estimate as a starting point and come up with a figure near or below that. A bit like they do with house prices!

I don't image for a minute they will say, nope you are wrong, its' actually £25k.

Send the Porsche club form and photos to Steve Kevlin for a valuation. Mine was valued by him at £19K last year (which has a lot to do with the high mileage, 180K). However, even in a year the prices have moved up a lot because of the huge recent interest. 964C2 coupes often sell within a few days at the moment.

19k Steve. Mmm...Cost to replace given the work done? I think you would find it virtually impossible to replace for 19k tbh

You are of course correct Sir! Even if it were valued at £30K I still wouldn't get back all the money spent on it. However, the replacement cost would not be an issue for me because if it suffered a total loss, I wouldn't replace it with another 964.

BTW in case anyone looking in on this thread forgets, it's about finding Mike a 964....sorry for taking it off track Mike!

Just as an update, I've just had the insurance agreed valuation back for my car and instead of the £18k I'd estimated they've said it's worth £25k so really pleased. It's cost me an extra £47 on the premium but I figure it's worth it for the extra £7k of cover.

When I sent the valuation form in I did suggest on it that my £18k could be on the low side so it's good they've taken the time to properly work out a realistic figure.

Whether I'd actually get £25k for it if I came to sell it is another matter but at least I know if it's written off that's what they would be paying out to me.

Now got to work out if I want to trade up to an early GT3 !

Was that a club valuation Richard?

I'm beginning to think I should get mine properly valued for my renewal coming up in the new year, currently I have it insured for £15K but it sounds like it should be a few grand more than that.
