Help sourcing heat exchangers from the US

Hey,

I need a new set of heat exchangers for my 964, and rather than buy a set from the UK that will have been exposed to our weather conditions, I'm hoping to get a decent set from one of the drier states! But struggling to find a set other than whats on eBay, the same sets are still for sale and have been for a few months, so surely I can't be the only one thinking they are expensive! This is also the second set I've needed in 12 months, so don't fancy spending a chunk of money only for them to go the same way as the last two sets!

I've just had a full rebuild at Unit11, so trying to keep the cost reasonable whilst my bank balance recovers. But struggling to find other sources at the minute, has anybody else used a supplier of second hand parts from the US that they would recommend?

Have you explored pattern parts? I believe Dansk make a good aftermarket part which is reasonably priced.

What is wrong with your heat exchangers?

I don't think Dansk make a standard set of exchangers, otherwise I'd go for that if cost wasn't ridiculous. They make them for earlier 911, but not 964.

Mine is cracked hand has a whole where the exhaust leaves the left hand side exchanger. The exact same thing happened to the last set as well.

It they were fixable Jonny and Danny at Unit 11 would have done so (they put a flange on mine many years ago). So I assume they're saying to Chris that they're beyond repair this time.

Chris, there are other aftermarket solutions but you will be looking at something like £4000. Check the FVD website. If the 964 is a keeper I would look at buying new ones from Porsche but I guess a pair will be something like £6000 now!

Jonny carried out a temporary repair so I had time to source another set.

Yeah a new set from Porsche is £6k I think with VAT. Did look at aftermarket systems, but decided against them for now as wanted to keep costs reasonable whilst I build back some funds after the unexpected rebuild!
