HELP!

Just replaced the battery in my wifes boxster with a 70mA battery(bigger than the one that was currently in the car - as that was what the shop-books said to put in) and now there is ZERO throttle response. I can manage to get the revs upto about 1200, then i get a clunk, then the revs drop off but the engine doesnt stall - i just get a strong smell of petrol.

car is a t-reg 2.5 standard boxster.

Any ideas?

You may need to recal the throttle unit.

Switch on the IGN for over 1 min and don't touch the throttle paddle, then switch off the IGN. Start the engine.

If that doesn't work, then remove the battery power for 60 seconds and reconnect, then do the throttle recal again.
Don't start the car untill you have done this...

Having a higher Ahr battery is not a problem.

Thanks for this, but it still isnt working correctly. We have it going to a local indy to try and diagnose the problem for us tommorrow.

Will keep you informed as to what they find out.

The 2.5 has a cable opperated throttle not the later fly by wire arrangement.

Perhaps the throttle and the battery are coincidental as i fail to see how they could be connected.
Check the throttle cable

Thanks for teh help, fortunately it was something fairly simple - but also something that we could not diagnose ourselves.

It was the air-flow sensor. Once the warranty company heard the garge say "sensor" thhey(the warranty co.) said "oh, we dont cover that". However, when i pointed out to them that this was the same as the "air-flow meter" - which was listed as a "parts that are covered" part - they decided to change their mind.

So the bill will be considerably less than it would be if we had had to pay for the air-flow meter, which reputedly costs £300.
