HELP.................. Wet back seats and interior!!!!!!!!!

Hi Guys and Girls

Being a new 911 owner, I may sound a bit naive, as there may already have been threads in regards to this.

Both back seats are damp and the interior (Porsche logo) is also damp. The water is getting in somewhere and my instinct would point to the sunroof, as I know that this is something that 944's have a problem with.

I eagerly await your responses..................................

Phil

I suggest you strip out the rear trim to get a better idea of the source of the water ingress. It will also give you a chance to dry everything out. Look at the rear window seal, the sunroof drains (in the corners of the engine cover opening) and the side window seals.

I had a similar problem after I had my car re-sprayed. In the end it turned out that they had not re-sealed the rear windows properly, however this was not at all obvious by a visual inspection.

I would also check the sunroof drains. If you lift the engine lid, you will see two small holes on either side of the car, which follow the contour of the roof line. It's worth checking that these are not blocked. I also think there could be some drains which exit on each sill where the rear wings starts to flare, but I'm not 100% sure.

I "rodded" the sunroof drains and this seems to have rectified the problem on one side, but to no avail on the other.

I tried removing the trim and found this a lot harder than I first expected, so I am leaving it to my mechanic to sort for me.

My car is going in today to have all the niggly electrical stuff done and to cure the minor oil leak.

He is also a body shop, so I will get him to look at the window seals whilst he is checking to see what body work repairs may need doing.

Regards

Phil
