I have acquired a Boxster S 01 tiptronic which i need to sell and has been in storage for the last 2 years

It has a gearbox fault and flashes between D and 4 th gear when running i have changed the selector switch on the side of the box but dash lights still blink

I was planning on changing the tiptronic gear oil and filter next any idea what fluid i need to use, i have a new filter?

Thanks for any help in advance

Also the bodywork is really good on this car but the inside is wet through i was planning on taking the carpets out and checking to see where its leaking in, where is the most common place ?

ps this car will be going cheap !!

You need to get the codes read, take it to Porsche dealer or Indie to establish the specific fault

Quite often, simply clearing the fault register in the Tiptronic module will cure this fault. It happens when the module has been disconnected, so could conceiveably have happened after a long period with a flat battery. The problem is with the electronics - not the mechanics.

Interior leaks are usually caused by blocked drain tubes, or split door membranes. You will also see drains in the compartment either side oof the battery.

thanks v much for the replies, I code read the car earlier and have the following faults which we erased.

Also i replaced the gear selector switch on the side of the gearbox albeit with a VW /Audi one (just swapped the wiring plugs) as it was literally half the price of a Porsche one !!, We erased the fault codes and for about 2 miles the car drove fine, then the D started flashing but ign off and on again and all is fine ?.

Will check the drains tomorrow now the carpets have been removed.

found a couple of the drains were blocked solid.

Still got a slight weep from behind the drivers seat so I pulled off the interior corner trim and behind it is a square cut out on the firewall about 3 inches x 2 inches this seems to have a little water sat in it

is this normal ?

thanks

♦ Short circuit to ground/B+/mutual short circuit or open circuit between control module and multi-function switch
♦ Multi-function switch is faulty
♦ Tiptronic control module is faulty

P0740
70, Torque converter clutch fault
The difference between transmission input speed and engine speed is monitored
Diagnosis conditions:
"¢ ATF level OK
"¢ ATF temperature 40° C to 95° C
"¢ Selector lever position 'D' or 'M', 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th gear
"¢ Gear engagement completed
"¢ Engine speed > 1400 rpm
Possible fault cause:
♦ ATF level too low or too high

I would check the wiring on the MFS. If you want the full diagnosis and troubleshooting sheets, drop me an email.
