HELP - Windows seem to fully lower of their own accord

Hi

I am the proud owner of a 2005 Boxster S.

However, several times after locking my car, I have returned to find the windows fully lowered.

I understand it is possible to lower/raise the windows by keeping your finger pressed on the remote control button when locking/unlocking (personally I do not like this feature and would happily disable it). As I used to put the remote control in my jeans pocket, I thought the cause could have been me accidentally pressing the buttons while the keys were in my pocket. To prevent the windows inadvertently lowering, I now hold the keys in my hand until I am out of the vehicle's remote control range (this in itself is a pain). However, on an occasional basis, I am still experiencing the windows being lowered when I return to the vehicle. In fact, I think one time I returned and one window was down, while the other was up.

It is only luck that this has happened when I have been away from the car for hours rather than days, and that when the windows have been down it has not rained or there have not been opportunistic criminals around...my luck can only continue for so long.

Please could someone help me on this? I am not sure what is causing my windows to lower, this is an obvious security risk and I dread to think what would happen if it rained. This is driving me crazy!

Many thanks for your help
Elliot

The remote control window was a feature on pre-2006 cars. It was subsequently removed by Porsche due to many customer complaints although some still favor this feature and have had it re-enabled.

There was a tech-bulletin issued to remove the feature on pre-2006 cars but it was a 'voluntary' recall. I am not sure if a dealer will charge you for this but it is a simple car recode.

The PAS control unit is the one that needs changing.

Thanks - this is helpful.

I have spoken to Porsche who refuse to simply recode the PAS and say they need to run diagnostics...which will incur a charge.

GRRRR!

You maybe it luck albeit I am on business in China until Monday.

I live near Gerrards Cross and I have the same computer that Porsche use to code the car. If your up for a short drive then I will gladly recode the car for you, the best bit ..... it will only cost you your petrol.

Excellent - that would be massively appreciated. Thanks so much. How about the weekend after next (i.e. bank holiday weekend)?
Cheers

Sure no worries .... but I will double check with my social sec aka the good lady later. I vaguely remember there is something arranged for the Sunday but Saturday is OK. Failing that I will be at Ace Cafe on the Monday for the Porsche night from around 6pm.
