Help with 930 prices.

Hi Folks,
Wonder if you can help me.
What sort of money should I be paying for a "pristine" condition extremely low mileag 1986 930 turbo flatnose in silver LHD, 1 owner. I have my eye on one but would like to know what ballpark figure I should be looking at. Also, did they ever do these as a Cab?

Many thanks,

I think the best person to have words with will be Barry Smith
I'm sure his details will be in PP

I think this is a difficult one.

I think all the flatnose cars were done under the "special wishes" programme? (Now "Exclusive") so they were all individually specced?

Is it a genuine flattie? There are a fair number of aftermarket conversions around.

I seem to recall these were called 930SE - someone will put me right if not!

OK, I hope I don't get gazumped with this (I trust you guys [;)]) but here's what I am looking at. I am already in conversation with the guy striking up a deal. Would love to know your comments. Is it too pricey?

There is an article in the January Porsche Post all about the SE, it includes the register secretarys phone number as Nicola said. I would call him if I were you he should be best placed to value the car.

I'm sure Porsche will be able to confirm the cars authenticity (or otherwise) if you still have doubts once you have spoken to Barry.

Whilst possibly not to everyone's taste, it certainly looks interesting and if the ownership history is genuine you will have a very unique car indeed.

Good luck - I hope it checks out okay for you.

Hi folks, sorry for the late reply, just been to pick up my car from service (had a new gearbox fitted) and 7th RMS!

Anyway, thanks guys, I spoke to Bary. Extremely informative and most accomodating. Can't thank him enough.
Armed with his advice, i will go see it, take it for a drive and get copies of all the paperwork, option codes, VIN
and build number etc. Be assured that I will make certain it's as kosher as it's made out to be before I take it.
If it is kosher, it shure looks like a beautiful car and it's a dream car I have always wanted ever since my first Porker
back in 1979 a 912sc Targa. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will all work out although I have to be honest and
say I don't trust the advert writup. Will let you know how things progress.
Cheers,

The key to the value of this one lies almost wholly in the provenance of the Porsche family connection. If you can get that officially confirmed by Porsche AG then you are dealing with a car which is even more desireable to some than any 'normal' Special Wishes Programme cars; presumably the seller has something to back up the claim? One point; the dealer mentions making a colour change; don't do it - originality is crucial too!

Totally agree with John Ward re value . FYI there was a 'very blue' [ dont know actual colour name ] with white roof example knocking around St Albans area about 7years ago, often in Chariots ,now Porsche Hatfield ..................they have recently had a 5 speed with rear arch vents and sills with incredibly low mileage which they were selling on behalf of an executor at double this price and some ! If its provenance is kosher i would go as far as saying this would be a bargain, anything owned by member of porsche familly shows a premium but not always huge ie 2.7 rs in green , and silver 993 rs bothlovely cars in their own right , Good luck and check that production umber carefully i am sure u will ave been told where it is .

hi berny, i spotted your post when you put it on, and thought its the kind of car you would pay £25,000 for at a specialist garage and then decide to trade it in at mann island 6 months later and be offered £12,500 but didnt bother replying.. now you posted the link and i recognise the car, it was for sale a few years ago at two mills garage and spent months in their showroom for about £45000 and i believe they ended up trading it on to another garage..i remember it was very low mileage and im sure the rose colour was original not a repaint. most people thought pink was a bad colour, many dont like lhd and the flat fronts not to everyones taste, you've managed to find a car with all 3 risks... obviously you would have to keep the mileage low to keep the value so i guess you want it as a second car now the 996 is sorted? im sure it would be worth a haggle as i bet theyve got £5000 - £6000 accross it...
although im negative it was an eyefull and im first in the queue for a run round the block if you bring it to the wirral meet in the summer ...

Thanks for that info Kieth. Actually Bary already told me most of this.

I have a copy of the documents and some more pics. The registration papers say it had 2 previous owners on import and declared as manufactured in 1989 but according to my Porsche VIN decoder it's a 1988 build car. There are no papers forthcoming that prove its provenance so far (I have asked for them several times). For a car that's only done 9000 miles it;s had one hell of a lot of things done to it. Here's just a few. The list is huge:

2 x clutch (different service dates)
1 x Pressure plate
New wiring loom (from fire in dash) (Replaced by a HONDA dealer ??)
3 x Front shock absorbers (1 at one service and 2 at another)
Starter motor
Turbo S Kit
Set of rear tyres
2 x Bonnet struts
New battery leads
Repaint of the front spoiler

Maybe it's just me but I can't see how you can burn out 2 clutches in 9000 miles.

The documentation does look kosher as far as it being a true 930 flatnose but I am extremely suspect of its provenance and mileage so far. I still haven't got a copy of the options sticker from under the hood yet.

yes 2 mills is a honda dealer on the wirral but they used to have a lot of exotics as well, i did hear the story about it being a special build for someone in the porsche family, you cant kill a 930 clutch in 9000 miles more likely to sieze up with standing...this months 911 world has a flat front cab by dage sport ( g force) for £14,500 nice price for a second car.. view 911 classifieds at www.chpltd.com

Doesnt sound all that good and if without the promised background not such a bargain ...........do the clutch and shock absorber bills give any extra clues as to dates and therefore how far apart therefore why these parts were fitted?
Also when u saw the car were u able to see it up in the air ..............a 900o miler should look superb underneath even after standing for a long time , which it will have if its only done that mileage in so many years
Recently saw a car , slightly older than this ,genuine one owner ,purported 44000 miler but underneath that stone blasted effect that i reckon could have meant 144 000 miles.
