Help with 987 Boxster Door Membrane Fixes

Hi all, I have recently bought my Boxster and after the heavy rains this week I have noticed that my lower left side door card is wet on the inside - nothing in the car itself but the door carpet is wet enough I can wipe water out. Nothing on the right side.

I am based in TN12 is there anyone that can help me with a fix over the weekend or next week as I would like to fix before more water gets in, I have been told by porsche and local specialists that I won’t be seen until mid November which is really worrying me. I don’t want it to get worse/start to rot or get water inside the car and under the seats.

I checked the door drain holes and they seem clear - no blockages but I will use some strimmer wire tomorrow to check again.

If anyone can help that would be amazing, thank you.

Perhaps worth browsing/ duplicating your post on boxa.net - I’ve seen plenty of posts describing your issue there and there often someone local prepared to help.

I've replaced the window regulator (driver's side) on my 987.2 / 2009 a year ago. The Boxster door construction is not complex or unique, no special tools required, just plastic trim clip levers that any good garage would have. imho, take the car to a local reasonably sized garage and leave it with them, or find a classic car specialist and ask them.

I think the 987.1 and the 987.2 cars are the same door-wise, and if so the panel over the door window is a thin formed sheet of aluminium screwed in place. There is a seal around the periphery of this alum panel, quite tacky and can be prone to damage if entry is made in a ham-fisted manner. Maybe it is that seal that is broken.

The seal keeps the weather out of the inside.

A good garage tech will sort it out, no real need for an 'expert' on Porsche's.
