HELP WITH VIN NUMBER

colinham

New member
I am a present trying to export one of my 944S2s to Australia as the cars are sought after there. The Australia DVLA only will import the Porsche if its prior to 1989. My car first registered in Feb 1989, but the car was almost certainly built in 1988 in Germany. Can anybody please help to establish its build date or put me in touch with someone who can via the cars Vin number. Please help if you can

My Vin No is- WP0ZZ94ZKN403097

Thanks Colin

The VIN appears to be incorrect ... can you double check it, especially where S Z O 0 appear.

Hi Nick

Ive typed in incorrectly it should read

WP0ZZZ94ZKN403097

Can you tell the build year from this

Colin

The "K" is the year code, 1989 model year. Porsche model years run from September to July, with the factory closed in August.

Colin

You can tell the model year and options but not the exact build date; as per previous post you need to sepak to Porsche GB.

You have a couple of options:

1. Letter of Origin (This is what I needed to import the car to the UK):

This will include:

Month and year of manufacture
Specification the car was manufactured to, including whether it is left
or right-hand drive
Which country the car was first delivered to
Model year of the vehicle
Original engine number
Original exterior colour

Cost is around 65 pounds and you have to send them proof of ownership to obtain this.

The address is:

Fax: 0118 916 5199

2. Certificate of Authenticity:

A rather nice certificate from Porsche also includes:

Build Date
Colour
Options
Engine and gearbox number.

The best thing about this one is it's FREE to club members (if you are not it will cost you 65 pounds (same as the other option)):
