hi again well today i managed to remove the starter motor to replace the clutch slave cylinder but just before i put the new cylinder on i noticed the clutch release lever that the slave cylinder pushes up against has no resistance what so ever and can move it around easily with my fingers ie pull it backwards and forwards , am i right in assuming i shouldnt be able to do this as dont want to put the new slave cylinder on etc and then still have no clutch or am i being a bit thick here and missing something obvious
regards mick

Should not be able to push it in by hand, will it go left, right, up and down or just in and out? Also If you pull the small cover off at the bottom can you see if the other end of the fork is behind the release bearing?

just been under car again and i can move the release lever in and out about a inch with no resistance and can move sidewards a very tiny amount . i can see the other end of the lever shinning a torch up there but aint sure how it should look with the folk behind the release bearing . i did notice that when i pushed the lever inwards a inch then it stopped there is still further it could push back ie looks like about another inch or so it could go back before hits casing behind lever ,,,,, if this makes sence lol . thanks for the quick reply . all help gratefully recieved
regards mick
