Good Evening

I have only just joined the Porsche Club , hence this is my first posting, so hopefully someone can help me .

I own a very early Boxster 986 tiptronic S ( P registration ) Boxster which to date has only covered 20200 miles with full service /Mot history and was built in the former Porsche 928 facility in Stuttgart in Germany and to my knowledge is totally original , the car was originally delivered to AFN (Porsche ) Ltd in London.
It has been suggested to me that my car may have been a launch car as it has almost every possible extra that was available at the time it was made , C18,XE3,XJ4,XLA,XME,XMG,XMN,XMX,XMY,XNH,XNL,XNR,XNS,XTE,XTG,XX1,X48,X64,X69,X71,X77,139,197,198,222,224,231,249,273,340 & 398.
Would anyone be able to help me in confirming how you would identify a launch car .
Kind Regards
Gary
(Cornwall)

Hi Gary

Was the car delivered to AFN Park Lane or Chiswick? You could contact Porsche Cars GB (the Porsche Customer Assistance Centre), they might be able to tell you if the car was originally a launch car. A lot of the launch cars were silver with terracotta. What colour is yours?

Good luck - sounds like a lovely car!

Chris

Good Morning Chris

Thanks for coming back .

I can confirm that she was supplied by AFN Ltd of Chiswick in London and you are spot on she's in Silver with full Terracotta leather ( including the air vents and door sills ) and has the full Carbon Fibre kit.

I noticed that I put down that one of the factory extras was 398 , this should have been 396.

I have checked with the DVLA and they have confirmed that there are only 2 Boxster 986 Tiptronic 2.5l 1996 ( P registration ) left on the UK roads . I have managed to track down the other one and unfortunately this one is in the hands of a boy racer and is far from in its original format and has over 130,000 miles on it .

Once again thank you for your help

Have a nice day

Gary

Good morning Gary

It sounds like you have an amazing car there! It might be worth calling in to PC West London, they might be able to give you some of the history on the car.

Have a great day

Chris
