Hengst Filters

Chaps,

A quickie.

I went to Euro Car Parts today to buy some bits, amongst them an oil filter for my S2.

The only oil filters they had in stock were Hengst. Are they any good? (I bought one. Not two, as originally planned, as I don't know if they are good or terrible. I normally use Porsche-branded ones, for no good reason other than that they are what the manufacturer recommends and they aren't that expensive. And oil systems are worth taking some care of.)

So, quick question. Are Hengst filters any good? German made, not that it means anything ...

OK, no answers but I have fitted it.

AFAIK, the Hengst filters are ok along with Mann, Mahle Knecht, Purflux etc.. As long as you don't use Fram (although these get a very mixed response on either end of the scales), Champion, Halfords or some no name branded filters I think you'll be fine.

Chas,

Thanks. That's the reassurance I was looking for.

I'm sure that I have had Mahle and Porsche-branded ones from ECP previously (although do remember paying a quid or so more for the Porsche ones.) Good to know that Hengst are up there with the other known-good manufacturers.
