Here's my 'new' turbo!

Just got this a few weeks ago. It's a UK car 1993 (1st Jan 1993) 3.3 with 64000 miles. Black with classic (dark) grey interior. Its standard except for stainless steel Dansk heat exchangers and K&N filter.

Externally, I've just fitted 3rd breaklight spoiler, and HID's. Internally, I've upgraded the security and sound- it has ipod connection and handsfree phone (Parrot- its great, voice recognition and puts sound through the radio speakers). Also has clear indicators, and sports steering wheel.

This is my 3rd 911 (had two 3.2 1988 targas) ....all black!

Looks very nice, IMHO the best colour on a turbo 2 (very bad boyz) might have too watch the film again now.

Must be a world apart to drive from the 88 targa's.

When you fitted the 3rd brake light spoiler, did you check the operation of the rear wiper?? The standard rear wiper on a 964 is too long and fouls the spoiler (by about 1/4 inch). The later 993 rear wiper arm is slightly shorter to accomodate the spoiler - but it's about £83!!! Check before it rains!!!

I'll put up a few more soon. Yes I will enjoy it- I use my Porsches daily (almost). Not worried about heavy clutches, or steering (oh yes that was the 3.2). The turbos a bit fast so have to be really easy on the accelerator around town! Other road users seem more agressive to me (try to race me) than when I had the 3.2's- must be those wide arches!

Yes, I guess you could, but the point of my post was to get him to check it. If you just switch the wiper on when you need it, the first thing you hear is the crack of the arm as it breaks in two!!!

IFAIK it's a 13" blade and I have a feeling a shorter one is a LOT shorter.

You got me worried about the rear wiper. I couldn't work out a way to check without actually using the wiper! Anyway, it cleared. we left the original wiper arm in place that came with the car (although I don't know if that was the original when it left the factory). It is very angular as opposed to just straight. Also the brake spoiler was a genuine Porsche OEM part (albeit ordered from a mail order specialist.

On the subject of my HID lights. Very bright and looks nice but am puzzled. There seems to be only one beam. The full headlight stalk now does nothing, and neither does the beam level adjustment from inside the car. I suspect the garage have not fitted it correctly, but as its Easter can't question them until next Tuesday! So am I driving around on full beam- I don't know! Can anyone who has done this conversion 'shed any light' for me?

I'm pleased the rear wiper is OK!! I did reply on the HID lights issue in the 964 forum but I didn't mention the internal height adjustment. That is done through a vacuum system and there's a chance that they just haven't re-connected it. The fact that the main beam switch does nothing doesn't bode well - I'd assume they have done something wrong - but it depends on which HID kit they've used. Did you supply it or did they just source and fit it???

I had a quick look at the Design 911 site and the description of the HID kits includes the words "run 1 wire to the bulb". If that's true there is no way that it can handle main AND dipped beam. I am loathe to believe it though - they can't be serious, can they?? I think, in your shoes, I'd be tempted to call Design 911 and ask them to verify that the kit should provide both high and low beams before ranting at the fitters.
