Hexagon...

Hexagon have sold their silver RS 3.8... wonder how close to their Euro 400k+ asking price they got?
First to put hand up and say "Good work chaps"!
Then again... heard '74 RS 3.0... one of just a handful of RHD's built... about to change hands for 7 figures...
And given how few clubsport 3.8 RS's there are... guessing Euro 400k for one of the 45 non-clubsports won't hurt values!

It's official that we now live in a world where there are a lot of people with significantly more money than brain cells....

[:D][:D]

Is that really right????

I seriously looked in to buying the red RHD 3.0 RS that Classic Throttle Shop had before it ended up with Export 56. I dilly dallied around for too long and then it was gone. This was about 7 years or so ago I guess. This isn't the same car you're making reference to is it??

That would be some turn if it is [:(]

Not least Phil when we think its the red lightweight that did starship mileage testing for Bilstein, had no proper history and when my buddy looked at buying it from a motorhome (!) dealers had a C2 engine in it...
But is now matching numbers and full history...

No Ben, this 3.0 RS came out of Lord Mexboroughs collection and is blue I think.

Rick,

looking at the recent auction reports we see a strong tendency of prices going up, not only for Porsches. A good example is the price level of the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 in the last years. (Fantastic car btw)
Good 964 RSs will be north of 100k EURO for sure, let´s see, what the Techno Classica in Essen will bring in March.
And it´s only logical that after the 964s have vanished from clubsport and trackdays (there are a few exemptions!) prices will rise. It used to be the same with the 73 RS, I do remember well when we saw six figures the first time. That has to be tripled now for a good car.
Provenance, history, matching numbers and condition will be the key points, so a dealer like Mr. Schmitz will be in a good position. No question, he´s not cheap, but AFAIK you get what he tells you. Fakes, clones and all the well known problems we have with the F-models will occur with the 964RSs also.
And I don´t really agree with you, Jason, ref. buying an expensive car. If the car is exactly what you want (and no fake and so on, of course) and it´s right there, why keep on searching to save maybe ten Grand? Only to find out that prices have risen in the meantime? If you have the money, life´s too short for waiting.

It´s always interesting to see that some cars stick out and seem to be very expensive - in the retrospective they were just the first ones to test the water. There will be more cars like the Kermit/Colombo car, there will be a high price level for under 100k clics 964RSs with good history and condition. And very special cars will always ask very special prices.

It´s also interesting to see how these cars developed from track day junk in the 90s to collector´s items today - ref. money it´s nice for those who want to part with it now. For the rest it´s only the confirmation that they keep the right car moneywise.

Many people who are in their 50s or 60s and have the money now to fulfill their dreams won´t hesitate to pay a lot of money for a good car - there´s not enough life left so that waiting might make sense.

So far about the Money discussion - drove my Cup car on Monday and that was PRICELESS!

Best regards,

Hacki

Often been accused of hiking 964RS prices and being unrealistic Mad Professor in the past ..... I rest my case.

Interestingly there is an elasticated response to 993RS prices which have kept ahead again, the 964RS seems to trail by a few months then catches up the shirttails at the moment the 964RS is largely undervalued in comparison to the 993RS which will eventually be found out to be an inferior RS to the 964 the educated market will catch on that the 964RS was and is the finest RS Porsche ever made, ask Walter[;)]

Huh?!....What happened to Cup cars, surely the 64Rs was developed from the Cup car, it has to be cup cars that lead the way??

At the end of the day, it's all about the Cup car..no? [:)]

Des, are you ok?...is that really you??? [:D]

(don't forget there are approx 50% 93 to 94RS made, that may have something to do with price differential?)

.... there is no doubt the Cup Car is the doyen of the 64 family. Rarer and most have an interesting History all of their own and for a minter all original huge bucks, but how many survived the demolition derby that was the Carrera Cup .... the RS Carpet being the platform for the later M001 Supercup .... I heard of a dentist spec 993RS, leccy windows, comfort seats with rear seats sell for close £200k low miles to HK ... think it was Riviera with factory RSR kit not C16 but RHD market car your Clubbie must be way north of this .... but as we all know not the point, we own these cars for their driving excellence whether a 64 or 93 both nicely different with their own individual table manners. The 64 being a lads Curry night and 93, Savoy Grill[;)]
