Another niggle now :'(
My drivers window on my convertible goes down when I open the door a few mill as meant to but goes straight back up when I let go of the handle making it a nightmare to shut as the glass hits the hard top or soft top. The other side stays down till I shut the door which is great. Any ideas ??
Still having problems with my soft top latching see my other thread.
Hoping to get these sorted asap? Thanks.

I see you are booking it in to OPC for investigation. I think this is the right thing to do as they can see what is happening on their diagnostic scanner. Can save a lot of time - but not money unfortunately.

Thanks jmaddox for the interaction. So many gremlins on this 911.. hopefully sorted this week then I'll think it's worth owning one. No pleasure yet just stress and only owned for 2 weeks ....

Know the feeling. Had mine just less than 6 months and getting a persistent check engine light visit workshop on the dash. At OPC for investigation on Monday. They are great cars though and worth persevering with.

Seems to me the company you bought the car from new of all the problems with the soft top that’s why they put the hard top on to cover it up
they have a obligation to sort this within the first 28 days of sale
you should contact them ASAP

Thanks uncle winks ... I am now going to try that tomorrow. Will be threatening to take the car back unless they foot the bill. I have wasted 2 weekends trying to fix it instead of enjoying it. I am going to look into my rights. Any one know where to get a stock letter from or anyone on here a solicitor I can borrow Thier brain? Thanks again... Ed.

I would mention to them that the car is not fit for purpose and they have a duty and care to fix the problems
i would also mention that the matter is in the hands of your lawyers
Paul

Thanks again.
I just remembered he actually said to me leave the hardtop on for about another month till the weather warms up. Hmm that's my 28 days gone...lucky I took it off.
Been after one of these for a long time and it's been issue after issue to be honest. Dont know wether to return the damn thing or persist with it. The only plus it had was the engine rebuild with hartech recently and without that I know it would be russian roulette on a 997.

Have you tried reset on the regulator? Open the window on the switch to the full open and then hold the switch in the down position for 5 secs. Then close the window and hold the switch up for 5 secs after it's closed. They can do this, if I recall correctly, sometimes after a battery disconnect. If that doesn't work then I'm afraid it's a trip to the PC.....

Yeah tried this thanks.
It's the locking mechanism worked that out yesterday after trying to fix. Seen them for 45quid second hand. Can prob fit myself but why should I. Seems they lowered the glass to disguise issue.
They will be getting a stern email tomorrow morning.
I'll let you know how I get on. Roof issues and door glass issue. Makes me paranoid about the car now.

Try your local Citizens Advice. Even on secondhand cars they have to be of merchantable quality and as far as I recall you have some redress up to 6 months. You shouldn't be having these issues within a couple of weeks of purchase.

I had to sort out a secondhand car my daughter bought some years ago which kept letting her down. Put in my local garage for fully sorting and sent the bill to the selling garage. They refused to pay, of course, but when I said they were liable under the sale of goods act they consulted their lawyers and my daughter got a cheque for the full amount by return.

Thanks jmadox
I'm on the case doing a letter now to the company. See how they react. Your right it's not good at all. I can't seem to love the car I have dreamt of since a child. That's not a good start. I paid top dollar for it as it's had a hartech engine rebuild all 6 Cylinder the works. Can't understand how they have cut corners with other things.. Will I ever love it now ?? Arghhh..

I would be inclined to step back and avoid aggravating a situation when you are really seeking cooperation.

Of course , if you've been back to your supplying dealer and received an unsympathetic reception, then by all means become a little more robust.

But in the first instance, take the car back to them, tell them of your problems (politely and courteously) and ask them what they intend to do. If they are a reputable concern, they will be keen to resolve the issues and maintain goodwill. If it helps, tell them you are a PCGB members and quite a few of your fellow members are keen to hear the results - this might create a little more pressure! [;)]

Clive

Thanks Clive and everyone else who helped with this. They were very good and offered to sort the issues out but with them being 200 miles away I opted for a partial refund and get the jobs done locally. Let's hope I'm in pocket when done... :/

I don't think they liked the fact I originally wanted to reject the car. I feel alot happier about the car now and will soon be looking at it with the admiration I always thought I would have. Soon as these niggles are sorted it will be a different story..... ;-) One day a 991 turbo s .... In my dreams :)

Fitted a new door lock today and window now works a treat BUT the central locking is not happy now and when I drive the car I get a warning blip every now and again from the horn. Oh my god I'm losing the will here lol..... any ideas are most welcome guys and gals.

So it's been for a roof re calibration and still the same. Specialist thinks could be the latch assembly or roof control module. Could do with one to try as they are not cheap to buy if not the problem. Anyone fancy doing a massive favour near knutsford??? Wink wink... Would be in great hands!!!
