Heynsdyk 2500 SF - Dutch 944-based roadster kit car

This has been kicking around the web over the weekend "¦ a small Dutch kit car manufacturer whose first product is a 944-based roadster.

It's, erm, odd.

Supposedly lighter and smaller than the 944 it starts off as, with a lower centre of gravity.

There's a hard top that stows in the boot, but I can't find any pictures of it with the roof on. I can't find anything that clearly shows the interior either.

The Heynsdyk website is here

One mystery is why they're only claiming a six second 0""60 time for one built on a late-model Turbo chassis. When a standard Turbo is quicker than that, surely losing weight and reducing the frontal area would make it even faster?

I quite like that. Hints of Boxster, and the rear panel has shades of early 911 about it when viewed from the side (maybe I'm squinting to see it.) Slight retro look as well.

Can't comment on the performance figures.

Oli.

ETA: My Dutch isn't that hot - anyone have any idea what it says on the website?

I ran it through Google Translate "¦ there's very little info there, but it's where I found the claim about a hard top that stows in the boot.

Ing in 2006 designed the first lightweight RJ Heijnsdijk special based on the Porsche 944 rolling chassis with the standard Porsche 944 trans-axle drive line that guarantees perfect weight distribution. In the Heijnsdijk designed convertible is the focus of 15% move down, the weight of the car reduced from 900 to 1200 kg and the frontal area decreased by 35%. The new convertible will be Heijnsdijk Sportscars on the market with an optional hardtop folded state back in the boot fits.

Starting price of Phase 1 included modification kit car donor to € 14,750 inc.
Price ready car from € 36,995 ex VAT included donor car off Eindhoven.

Looks quite pretty from most angles, 0-60 time does seem a bit conservative. Wonder what it sounds like. Would want a decent exhaust/engine note in a soft top.

There's a bit of 914 at the tail end but the front is quite, erm, unique. Is the windscreen off a Speedster replica? Perhaps some Carrera GT in the rear deck?!

There is an arty interior shot on the "historie" page which seems to show a tarted up 944 upper dash with a snazzy new centre console.

I kinda like it I think, but at more than £14K for the kit, no thanks.

That is awful like most kit cars. The panel fit is terrible, the side fin that runs from what I guess is a fake air intake into the door just looks wrong. Maybe if they made it run further down the door it would look a tiny bit better. The backend just hurts my eyes.
Why buy/build one I am sure they would cost more than a 944 turbo cab and look worse and probably fall apart.
Companies that sell these things can't make any money, the only reason to set a company up that does this sort of thing is because you fancy yourself as a car designer and have far too much spare cash. Can you imagine taking this idea into the Dragons Den.....

At that price range it's going head to head with the Phantom GTR, and that IMO is a very underrated kit car. It looks good, sounds great (a friend of mine had one with a Honda V6 (some came with the Ford V6) but is now going for a 350BHP T5 engine...) and for a good handling car it also rides surprisingly well too.
