Hi Andy,

Welcome to the gang and I hope we can be of some assistance.

Oil pressure,

Different people have different experiences but mine reads 4.5 bar when cold dropping to 3 at tick over when hot with the occaisonal drop to 2.5 when comming off the gas when hot. Not saying that that is how it should be, but the car is still running.

A good respray

Depends on what you would call a good re-spray. You might get a blow over for under £1000 but for a full monty, glass out, handles off etc you would be looking at several times that. In the end you can only ask around and get comparative quotes.

Sun Roof

Don't know, I think the 83 had either no sunroof or a manual sun roof but I'm not certain.

Skidding Sideways

It shouldn't. Check all the tyre pressures and then get it into an independant specialist to have a good look underneath.

Is it a Pig

Not necessarilly. It is an 18 year old car, you have to accept that it will need some looking after and, assuming it wasn't pampered by its previous owner, will probably need a bit of money spent on it to get it to a reasonable standard.

Hi,

1) Oil pressure will be affected by the state(age) and quality of the oil.

2) and 3) nothing to add

4) front and back? do you have standard wheels?

5) Not neccesarily It might not need much at all or it may need more than you spent on it to make it great

1,pressure reads 3.5 going up to close on 5 when hitting the gas
4,it seems to jump over to the left as if nsl rear is at a differnt angle to the other 3 wheels?

Oil pressure sounds about right for warm engine, switching to a full synthetic like mobil 1 motorsport (15W50 normal mobil1 too thin) might give you a bit more pressure but probably not neccesary.

It will probably drive much nicer with a full 4 wheel alignment (around £100), this will also highlight any problems.
My current car and my previous 944 both felt much nicer with new dampers (shocks), and some new bushes is the suspension. If you have the budget for this it is worth doing before the alignment as the front will need alignment checking after fitting new dampers. IIRC the dampers are relatively inexpensive for the early cars as they are inserts at the front.
