Hi, and HELP

GNG-Mat

New member
Just like to say hi, i'm new to the club as you can see. Joined based on advice from the seller of my 2nd Porsche 996 and i think its lucky i have. I'm rebuilding my first due to a fire in my garage so purchased the 2nd so i could keep going until done but have now found myself with a new issue. Seems ive been sold knowingly or not (believe known) oil pressure problems. Symptoms are high at start and seems fine, trouble getting into 2nd a few times but might just be me i don't know and after its warm it drops right down, after a 20 min drive i've found it hesitant for a short while and oil light has come on. got back and checked oil and its fine but now too worried to drive it as its to be converted for my disabled son so slightly annoyed nearly 20k later and i've got 2 Porsche's sat on drive. From reading im pushing towards the oil pressure valve / spring to be at fault but i'm hoping that someone here will help steer me in the right direction, being from Anglesey i've no clue on nearest Porsche experts.

Thanks and sorry for the naff hello.

P.s Car is a 1999 996 3.4 150k miles also hes put heaver oil in the car due to age.

Welcome Mathew!!

Sorry to hear your troubles. I think you are right to suspect the pressure relief valve spring. It is reasonably accessible if the car is on a lift, and a cheap solution if it turns out to be the offending article.

Sorry for late response, internet was down due to house refurbish and contractor cut my phone line haha. Do you have any details on location as i've the parts to fit
Cheers

Hi Richard, your a star. Couldn't find much at all on the internet about this part just what it was. Do you have a book out for purchase on amazon at all? noticed something on there earlier with your name.

Thanks again hopefully i can get it sorted before Tuesday as i'm converting the car for my disabled son.
