hi everyone. I've just bought a 997 c2 it has sim slot for phone but doesn't seem to have Internal phone kit fitted

anyone know the best way forward other than changing the whole unit to new Nav/Bluetooth system?

any advise please help. Thanks. Baza

If you press 'Phone' on the PCM console and it says 'not present' (or similar, I'm not sure exactly) then it's not installed.
The unit lives under the passengers seat and insofar as I'm aware you can actually retrofit it without changing the PCM unit, but it will need a re-code of the system to 'turn on' the phone element. (And possibly a firmware update of PCm itself, I'm not sure) Porsche ceased production of the 2.1 specific Phone module about 3 years into the 997s life however, so you're looking at trying to source one from A Popular Online Shopping Site which would actually make a Dension / MoBridge bluetooth install more cost-effective, and certainly more user-friendly if you make / receive a lot of calls on the move.

Hi Bazza,
Having just removed mine and replaced it with a NavTv Tooki Bluetooth unit the phone unit itself is under the right hand seat which if you are in the UK is the drivers seat. If the wiring including the Fibre optic cable is present the installation is very simple as both the FO and power connections are available. Having first removed the passenger seat which is a straightforward but hard work I found the park assist unit and not the phone. I didn't actually remove the Drivers seat I found that if I Unbolted it from the floor, front bolts first, and folded the backrest down I could lift it toward the rear seats which provided sufficient space to remove the Phone unit and gain access to the wiring. The Tooki unit provides full blue tooth access and so far has been faultless with my iPhone 6. It doesn't provide blue tooth access to iTunes.
