Hello to you all!

Just returned from the Nottingham OPC where I've traded-in my 2003 BMW 3 Series Convertible and my wife's Mazda 2 for a used 2000 (W) Boxster S!

Spent much of the last month trawling the web and reading Porsche magazines and had decided to take the plunge with a 944S2 to replace the wife's car only. Visited a 'specialist' yesterday - and she (who must be obeyed) took only one sideways glance at the 944 and said, 'I'm not driving that!' So after much discussion, we test drove an aging 964 3.6; apart from me recalling my childhood and my father's 1967 VW Beetle 1200 and the 964 having the pulling power of 'Margaret Beckett' [;)] , it was obvious that it too was not the car for us. Then she spied a Boxster 2.5 in Pastel Yellow and another test drive ensued! We were impressed and could see beyond the fact that a left hip replacement was going to be necessary if the clutch pedal couldn't be made lighter! Anyway, we talked for a time and quickly realised that the prices at an OPC might be similar - and we would gain a Porsche warranty etc; so home we came.

Much time on the net again looking at OPC approved used cars - and we were correct, for the same money, we could buy a lower mileage car with a higher spec and gain all the benefits of an OPC. We prioritised the cars - all S models, because - unlike at the 'specialist' we could afford one, and decided to visit 'Merlin', the OPC in Nottingham. Much trepidation arose as we anticipated that 'our' chosen S might have been sold already; however, when we discussed matters with the Sales Executive, it was the only remaining used Boxster S that he had remaining - having sold 4 already over the weekend. So we went to take a look and it was all that we had expected. A few minor issues need to be addressed but they had been identified already by the dealership and will be taken care of before we collect the car later this week! [:D][:D]

So what's the spec, I expect that you're all wondering; well it's:

2003 W with 34,000 miles recorded
Ocean Blue Metallic
Blue hood
Metropole Blue Leather
OBC
Porsche Sound System
CD Autochanger
18" Sport design wheels
ASR and ABD
Litronic/Bi-Xenon headlamps with headlamp cleaning system
- and let's just say more security than normal!

Excited? you bet we are!!!!

Didn't think so! The 'specialist' said that a heavy clutch pedal indicated that a new clutch had probably just been fitted - but he could have the 'weight' adjusted to suit me!!!! I tried his other cars and they had a 'normal' feel to the pedal. Having read about the Boxster in recent issues of Porsche magazines, I thought that a heavy clutch indicated that a new clutch was needed - not that a new one had just been fitted. Matters not now because we're buying from an OPC.

Congratulations. Just in time for summer.

£ for £ a used Boxster S is, arguably, the best Porsche you can buy at the moment.

Congrats. and welcome to the club.

Spotted a slight query with the spec of the car though. Suspect that it isn't a 2003 - W. Unless it's had an engine upgrade and managed to achieve some form of time travel.

I take it that it's a 2000 - W, and with 34k is not a bad mileage
