Hi from Worcester

Well after reading a little advice I took the plunge and realised a lifelong dream of owning a 911. I did what you are absolutely not supposed too do and brought the third one I saw (all on the same day I may add) but it just felt right. From the !minute I pulled up I knew. Now this may well be famous last words but the owner was a great guy and the car has half a forest of paperwork and detailed history so I hope I'm on to a good one.

So now I'm one very very happy owner of a 996 targa. I know not everyone's cup of unleaded but I love it. My only problem is prizing the keys from my wife who seems to love it just as much!

Hi Ben,
Great choice. Probably the most usable 996 of them all, so you get to drive it more often!

Welcome aboard and you did better than me: I bought the first one I saw (although I have had another years ago); sometimes your gut instinct is right!
Cheers,
Russ

Many thanks guys. I must admit reading a few other new owner stories I think I probably should have been a bit more cautious, but I suppose I'll have to start crossing fingers etc. I did ask about the ims which was checked and found okay, but cylinder liners etc never even came across the radar!

I do like the matching his and hers idea, however selling one of the kids to do it may not go down too well.

Nice choice, considered a Targa during my hunt for my first 911 but only a wide hipped temptress would do [;)]

Nothing like that first sight. Love at First sight

When I bought my wife a mini there was a 911 the dealer's owner was selling loved the look of it

Had a flat battery (quite usual with secondhand cars!!)

Went back twice with an appointment Battery still not sorted

Has appointment to see two others Drove up through the gates of a huge house saw my 911 and fell in love with it

A few problems mainly with finding out what is wrong by the so called experts

Find some one who knows YOUR model and stick with him

Spent the first two months away with a noise from the automatic transmission as the owner tried to find the problem.
Seemed to sort it but know its back

Then I had oil in the water a specialist in Lincolnshire changed the Oil Cooler - Did not sort it.

Two specialists wanted to re build to engine at up to 10k (on a car worth 13k)

Spoke to a specialist in Mid Wales who recommended Steel Seal 60.00 totally sorted

AS an owner of several urquattros finding someone who REALLY knows abut OUR car is almost more important that buying the car in the first place

Hopefully will see you at an R13 meeting sometime

Hi Richard, I've had pro9 in Redditch recommended to me by the previous owner. They've done the last few services and apparently really know their stuff (certainly they know the car). Don't know if I ought to get it checked over but it seems a little barn door now.

I've just looked at the R13 event board and I'll try to get along to a meet soon. Would love to meet a few more enthusiasts and of course their cars.

I think my car went there as one of the specialists

I liked them as they seem very professional - small family business if I remember

The Worcester,Shropshire group is really good Interested in their area go on the run into Wales next month we are going as well

Hopefully meet you there

Hi Benjs and welcome.

My wife took mine for a spin when I first picked it up and fell in love with it just like your wife.
She went on about it so much that 10 days later we upgraded her Peugeot to a Boxster.

That's torn it. My wife read this over my shoulder and all heard was 'oooh we could sell the mini'. Going to look at the welsh run now

Sorry guys its the Shropshire Hills run June 7th

Was great last year

This year it starts in Craven Arms

Nice leisurely run through the South Shropshire Area and just over the boarder into Wales

Richard
