Hi, new to the forum

Hi read a lot of threads on Sat Nav and PCMs sorry still non the wiser? dealer cant help, he says he has placed two calls to Porsche they don't know. Can anyone point me to a search thread I might have missed on the forums????

Hello everybody, I wondered if anyone could shed light, I am currently waiting to take delivery of my 2007 Cayman S, I plan a drive to Spain, the current sat nav I am under the impression only covers UK, could anyone tell me what model sat nav would be in this car, and what European discs I would need to purchase. Many thanks.

Hi all, Not to worry my friend emailed me and said not to bother trying to get European discs, (he also has a cayman) said the sat nav in Porsches are a waste of good dash space, best to stick the Garmin in the window; will save me a lot of time being pointed in the wrong direction with the clunky Porsche Sat Nav. Thanks for all your views..

As you and you're dealer appear unsure of the Sat Nav I expect you are not buying from an OPC. I use a Garmin myself ( replacement cost about the same as the Porsche updates ) but have used the Porsche Sat Nav systems in a couple of Boxsters, I'm surprised to hear them described as clunky although they are not so easy to use as the Garmin they seemed to me to be quite good once I got used to them.

If your car is coming from an OPC and has PCM, they should provide you with a full set of discs - which includes all of Western Europe at the very least.

Hi, I recently got an 07 Cayman S with Sat Nav and the disc seems to suggest it covers all of Western Europe as someone has already suggested. After reading a lot of criticism on the Sat Nav I've been pleasantly surprised with it, biggest pain is that it isn't postcode driven so adding addresses does take a bit of time.

Hello, to check if your current fitted sat nav covers europe just tap in a few place names in germany/spain it should all be on the one disc on an 07 PCM. Myself I've had several Porsche with the fitted Nav and all have had France and Germany (never tried Spain) but for years always fit my Tom Tom with speed camera subscription when travelling on unknown roads in UK or Europe plus it has post code recognition, but haven't found a mount that stops the Tom Tom leaving the windscreen and flying down the middle of the car under really had acceleration (never hits the rear window due to power cable tether. Paul

Thanks for all your help guys, dealer is not an OPC, and he non to helpful with the sat nav issue, as I have paid deposit and deal is done as far as he seems to be concerned. I will just have to wait till pickup to find out.. Particularly like Paul (Monty 2) comment; cant wait to see if I can get my GARMIN to hit the back windscreen too... lol.. Kind Regards Chris.

Hope you enjoy the Cayman, as for the Garmin "tether" lead issue !!! I made up a mount for my Garmin 765T which is fitted into the pocket of the console and clears the gearchange ok, it stays secure, gets good reception and transmits music etc through FM on the stereo. The mount was made up using bits from a kit in Halfords

The standard sat nav covers all of Western Europe. I have used it in Germany, France, Holland and Switzerland so far.
