Hi!

dawn lang

Ex Club Member
Hi there, i've owned my Boxster for 18 months and been a PCGB member for all that time and have only just ventured into the forums.

I've got a 2.7 2000 W plate Boxster and have decided to remove the CD-22 Porsche radio in favour of an all singing all dancing Sony. The question I have for you is, have any of you removed the radio in your Boxsters - is it difficult and how much are the 'tools' needed for removal???

Cheers

Dawn

Well that obviously did it! [:D] I've shame faced myself with a thoroughly stupid question as a first post and ostracised myself by even contemplating the removal of the Porsche radio.

I'm here to learn more about my Boxster so no doubt there will be equally mind knumbing questions to follow. Apologies in advance!

[:D]

Hi Dawn your very welcome to the PCGB forum...

afraid i can't help you with your question several people on here would but they seem to have gone quiet for a while...still getting over xmas[]

try the boys at www.boxa.net forum thay might be able to help..

Dawn, firstly: Hi!

I think the CDR-22 is a Becker unit (just like the newer CDR-23). The 'keys' you need are not easy to get hold of unless you buy a Becker head unit. Many car audio shops will charge you to pull your CDR-22 unit - something that takes around 5 seconds!

Your best bet is to pop into an OPC and just get the service department to pull the unit for you. They shouldn't charge anything.

By the way, choose your OPC carefully ;)

Hi Taz, you're right - it's the Becker unit.

I've just tried OPC Colchester and they've very kindly said that if I pop past they'll pull the unit for me - free of charge.

Cheers for your help - just hope the new radio isn't too much of a faff to fit!

Hi Dawn - you'll find here that after one posts a questions, there is a short period of silence and then a burst of replies. I've found it very useful and always entertaining.

I'm in Essex too (in Stock just off the A12 near Chelmsford) so if I wave at every silver Boxster I may be waving at you!

Lapis Blue "Y" reg 2.7.

Have to say that everyone's been really friendly.

I'm just down the road from you - working in Laindon and living in West Tilbury (near the Kings Head pub).

I'll look out for you.

Dawn,

Sorry you didn't get much of a response here, you might also want to try posting on the uk boxster forum at www.boxa.net , or on the US forum - www.ppbb.com - there are a lot of guys there with a lot of technical knowledge who are always willing to help.

Greig.
