Post Service it was reported one of the horns wasnt working (High or Low Fanfare) - Steve Bull finds everything!!!!!

I take it these are the horns located behind the OSF Headlight having investigated, including putting hand over each horn individually, they both seem to be working !!! even had the Mrs checking !!!!!!!!!

Am i missing anything?????

Hi,

The low tone has stopped on our car - so now lets out a rugged squeak[]

guess checking the connections to the exisintg horns is the 1st step.

Can anyone suggest which is the easiest 'way in'?

taking headlamp out,
or 'up and under' via wheel arch?

thanks,
T[&:]

It's got to be the headlamp route (to the horns, I guess I don't know where the troublesome spade connector is). While you are in there, can you look to see if you have a part number on the horns. I'd like to "down grade" my '96 car's weedy hooter to the early loud version[:)]

Do you still have the twin horns behind the headlight on your 96 car, or is the horn some place else on later cars? and are the ones on earlier cars louder ?

Yes it's still behind the off side headlight, but its a small thing similar to a snail's shell (fairly big snail!).
To be honest I've not compared the loudness side-by-side with a '95 car. But the size makes me think minds quiet!

Anyone on here done that???

Thanks for the reply :)
mine is a late 97 993,could it be that the twin horns were an extra cost option, as with lots of things porsche , as my car has the twin trumpet horns.
Also, when I was doing some work on the engine on mine, I found a small horn mounted on the bulkhead between the engine compartment and passenger compartment, anyone else got one there ?

If it's like the 964, OSF wheel off and remove wheel arch liner!

Mine packed up ages ago and was easier to replace with Fiamma twin air horns....

Colonel Bogey anyone???

Alarm?

Up o 1996 993's use the trumpet type, 96 on use the small french horn type ones, we list them both
