high mileage?

Hi guys,

am thinking of buying an 04 car with 41k but i will only add 8k per year and am thinking of keeping it for 2 years or maybe 3.

The car seems well priced and takes the mileage into account and it has an unbelievable spec. I know the value of a car is what anyone is prepared to pay but is there an 'over the hill' type threshold for mileage vs price?

i guess the question is in 2 years when it will be a 5 yr old 57k mile car is it too high miles to be desirable?
Should i look for another lower mileage car? Does the 'perfect' car ever exist?!

Help!!

any opinions appreciated....

I don't think that 57k is that high, just over 11k per year. If you are doing reasonably low milage, a higher milage car will be a bit cheaper and by the time you come to sell it on, the milage would be a bit lower in respect of age.

My golden rule is 'Buy on condition not mileage' -consequently I bought a 2000 Boxster S with 82,000 miles but in superb condition and with a comprehensive service history. 57K sounds about right for the year anyhow. It has to be priced accordingly though.
No regrets with mine - still runs beautifully after adding a further 8000miles in 6 months.

me too - looked at loads...... all younger than mine with lower mileage. Bought mine because even though it had 79K on the clock it was in fantastic condition and that was more important to me. It's a Porsche.....I would expect it to be able to do some miles without issues. Up to 101K now and still no probs

My car is from the 6 month period before the one you are looking at and has 56k on it. Still looks to be in pretty good fettle to me!

couldnt agree more-porsches can and do over 150-200k miles with ease-condition is far more important

Good luck
