high miles ? normal miles ?

Im in the process of buying a 964 but the millage do scare me. 110k to 130k is considered normal for a 964 , if has good service and regular service intervals ? For example, would be best to buy a 60/70k or a 110k with a clutch swap and engine rebuild ?

If i buy a car with 110k and then keep it for 3/4 years, it will have close to 170/190k miles.. depreciation worries me.. since now the car are holding their value very very well..

Im just continental (europe) and 110k miles sounds fine but when I translate that to km-s ( roughly 175k ) sounds awfull a lot !

Thank you ,

any good 964 buyers guide on a magazine ? Ive read that I should expect 1,200 to 1,600 pa on maintenance.. why so high ? I understand if a car has a top engine rebuild, clutch changed why pay 1,000 plus yearly on maintenance ?

Milage shouldn't matter too much if the car has been serviced properly with an up to date service history. Higher miles may indicate that you will need to spend money in the near future but low miles may hide a big bag of neglect!

The first three rules of buying an older performance car are Service history, Service history and Service history.
Low milage is no good to you if the car has been neglected.

high miles are not a problem as long as they are serviced properly these engines will run forever.
mine has done many rallys through europe and still running strong at 150,000 miles and yet to have a rebuild

Goncalo, it is a difficult decision! hopefully you will make the right one, i'm sure you will. There are pros and cons with every question. I agree with Chris and Scott. Ultimately for me, the first impression and condition tells you a lot about the car and whether you need look any deeper into its history or turn away. If it looks like it has been cared for, the chances are that it may well have a good and full service history. If it has, check where/whom they were carried out by and what intervals, are there bills, what work has been done and how recent..... Do all the records match up!! ie milage on Mot certs, bills and serviceing. Always get a second opinion..... have a PPI by and respected independant who understand 964's!
Hope all goes well
